A popular butcher in Oswaldtwistle shares its renovation trip after the decision to move.
Ye Olde Sausage Shop has been based in Oswaldtwistle Mills for 15 years – but the pandemic caused owners to rethink their business needs and requirements.
Jessica Leliuga, who co-owns the business with Martin Teese, said: “During the Covid lockdown, we were forced to close the store and bring our business online.
“Our business has changed and developed over the course of the pandemic, our online services have skyrocketed, so we believe that now is the right decision to deal with this change.
“We will be more flexible with opening hours in our own store and we feel that this is the best option to support both our business and personal lives in the future.
“Business has now changed and we have to adapt to it.”

They move out of business at the end of July.
The new store is a former bridal studio of Balcony Brides on Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, BB5 3HS.
In the new building, which they want to renovate by mid-August, there is “a lot more space and storage space”, according to Jessica.
The business itself is also recovering and benefiting from a “much more modern look” as it is currently a “very traditional looking butcher shop”.
Jessica also added that they want the new store to be a “food experience” with a wider variety of foods such as jams and chutneys sold.
She explained, “We have always been bound by what we sell – we hope we can branch out a little and sell deli-style products that complement the meat.”
The Ye Olde Sausage Shop team posted a snapshot of the store on Facebook before the renovations begin.

They wrote: “Our last day of work at Oswaldtwistle Mills is Friday, July 30th, but we don’t have an opening day for the new shop yet.
“I can’t wait to take you on the renovation journey, so please keep an eye out for little glimpses along the way! As always, we thank you for your continued support and kind messages. We are really blessed with the best customers! ”

Another said: Fabulous news, I can’t get over the fact that I’m back to being a butcher after all these years. ”
A third wrote: “Oh absolutely brilliant news … good luck with the new shop.”
The team has already started on the carpet and writes: “The carpet is gone now.
“It may be a long way off, but we took the carpet out of our new shop and no one we know has any use for it.
“It’s in really good shape (it’s that sandy color) and it seems a shame to throw it away.
