Schools in Lancashire are almost closed in the summer and many people will turn their attention to the holidays.

While some travelers prepare to fly to green and yellow list countries, many are choosing to stay too.

Research shows that there is an increasing number of searches for accommodation domestically, and many choose to play it safe and vacation on the UK coast.

From mid-June to mid-July 2021, HomeToGo.de – the online marketplace with the world’s largest selection of holiday rentals – recorded a monthly increase in searches for summer accommodation in the UK of 84% compared to the previous month.

With the data, HomeToGo has uncovered the UK’s hippest coastal cities for the summer of 2021.

These places, from the Isles of Scilly to the Scottish countryside, saw the greatest month-to-month increase in interest ahead of the big school holidays.

The quaint seaside town of Deal in Kent is taking center stage for summer 2021 with a staggering search spike of over a thousand percent.

It follows Barry in Glamorgan – one of five Welsh resorts to make it into the top 15.

The top 3 is rounded off by picturesque Wells-next-the-Sea on the Norfolk Coast AONB.

Lower down the list was the resort of Falmouth, Cornwall, with a 175 percent increase.

However, two cities in Lancashire also made the top 15 list.

Cleveleys, on the Fylde coast, ranked fifth on the list with a 345 percent increase in searches.

It is described on the Visit Lancashire website as a “busy traditional seaside resort” with a range of popular shops, cafes and restaurants.

It also offers perfect ocean views over the Irish Sea and miles of golden sandy beaches and exhilarating walks along a multi-award winning boardwalk.

Further down the list is the humble town of Morecambe, where searches increased 156 percent.

While you’re here, enjoy Morecambe’s award-winning boardwalk with an ice cream before heading down to the beach to build sandcastles or fly kites.
