Shannon Thomas, 22, needed stitches in her mouth and lip after giving birth “punched in the face and knocked out” by an unknown man. The bat remains at large after the beating on Sunday.
Shannon was hit with such force that she fell to the ground and was thrown into the emergency room in an ambulance, Lancs Live reports.
Shannon, who works for the NHS, said today: “I I don’t remember much from a few seconds ago until I was in the ambulance.
“THis husband only hit me once in the face, completely unprovoked, but the impact made me unconscious and fell right on the back of the head. “
Shannon had bought some food at a diner in Blackpool, Lancashire, just minutes before the guy struck in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victims Sister Sara McDermott said Shannon got “very sore and very upset and just wants to deal with it.”
She added: “This attack was completely unprovoked and is disgusting behavior. “
Sara shared pictures of her sister’s injuries to find who was responsible. The Lancashire police are due to question Shannon today.
The attacker has been described as in his mid-twenties and has blond hair, and the Blackpool family are hoping police will be able to obtain CCTV footage to identify him.
In the post on Facebook, Miss McDermott said, “My sister was attacked in Blackpool in the early hours of Sunday morning by an unknown male look in his twenties with blond hair.
“This happened outside of Feast About Takeaway in Queens Square.
“My sister was slapped in the face and passed out.
“She had to have stitches in her mouth and the attack on her lip was completely unprovoked and is disgusting behavior. May I ask people to share this far and wide.”
A Lancashire police spokesman said: “We were called on a report of an attack in Blackpool at around 2:45 am on Sunday, June 27th.
“A woman in her twenties said she was knocked to the ground by a man in Queens Square.
“The woman suffered facial injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
“No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway.
“Anyone with information can contact the police on 101 using the 0275 protocol dated June 27th.”
